BABYMETAL Would Love To Collaborate With Backstreet Boys

BABYMETAL have shared details of their dream collaborations in a new interview inside the latest issue of Metal Hammer magazine, Louder reports.

Moa Kikuchi, aka Moametal, revealed to the publication, “Recently, I had the opportunity to speak to the Backstreet Boys and we spoke about how we would love to perform together. I think it would be so fun and interesting to go beyond genres and collaborate with them.”

She also discussed the possibility of collaborating with Italian rockers Måneskin and added, “Also, I would love to collaborate with Måneskin. I was surprised to hear that they were actually younger than us, because I totally thought they were older than me. But us both being in the same generation, I feel so inspired and also motivated.”

So far, BABYMETAL have already featured on Bring Me The Horizon’s 2020 album, Survival Horror, and had Sabaton vocalist Joakim Brodén and Arch Enemy’s Alissa-White Gluz on the 2019 BABYMETAL album, Metal Galaxy.

The Japanese metal duo have also shared the stage with Judas Priest's Rob Halford and have become one of his favourite acts. 

Halford expressed his dream of working with BABYMETAL in a 2021 interview with Metal Hammer, where he said, “It would be great to jump in on a Gimme Chocolate!! or a Headbangeeeeerrrrr!!!!!. But, even more than that, I would love to sing in Japanese, because I’ve never done anything like that.

“It would be a thrill to sing a Babymetal song, but, rather than one of their existing songs I’d like to do something unique. We could make a one-off special, that would be a dream.”

Earlier this week, BABYMETAL announced their first-ever Australian headline tour, heading to the Fortitude Music Hall in Brisbane, Sydney’s Hordern Pavilion, and Melbourne’s Margaret Court Arena this June.

Pre-sale tickets for their shows are currently on sale, with general admission tickets going on sale this Monday, 20 March, at 9 am via Destroy All Lines.

BABYMETAL are releasing their fourth album, The Other One, next Friday, 24 March. “Through the METALVERSE, a restoration project called THE OTHER ONE will reveal a side of Babymetal we never knew existed. This is the ‘other’ story of Babymetal,” a press release reads. Pre-order the album here.
