Timmy Trumpet has sent the New York Mets crowd, and mainstream US sports media wild with an on-field performance of pitcher Edwin Diaz's walkout song 'Narco'.
Australian musician and DJ Timmy Trumpet is the talk of mainstream US sports media today after smashing an on-field performance of his viral hit Narco at a Major League Baseball game in New York.
Trumpet performed Narco from the bullpen at Citi Field as New York Mets' closing pitcher Edwin Diaz walked out to the plate.
Diaz has been using the viral hit as his walk-out song for several weeks, so the crowd was immediately receptive when Trumpet's presence in their midst was announced.
As the game progressed anticipation for the performance increased, and when the moment for Diaz to enter the game against the Los Angeles Dodgers arrived, Trumpet and the Citi Field crowd played their parts beautifully, creating what is sure to become an iconic moment in Mets history.

The performance of Narco, which is currently sitting at number one on Spotify's viral 50 charts and also occupies number 13 on the Billboard 100, was the second time that Trumpet had the mainstream US media talking within 24 hours, after Trumpet performed ballpark staple Take Me Out To The Ballgame at the previous nights game, at which Diaz was never called into action. The rendition of Take Me Out To The Ballgame was well received, but it was the anticipation of a live Narco rendition that truly had Mets fans buzzing.

It is believed that the pair of performances from Trumpet makes him the first Australian to ever perform on the field at a Major League Baseball game.
Speaking in the lead-up to his moment in the spotlight, Trumpet promised he'd be ready to make it count, telling the MLB "If the opportunity comes to play it live as the legend walks out onto the field, I’ll be there in a heartbeat ready to party with the crowd", the footage which is going viral worldwide shows that he did just that, starting what turned into a victory party for the Mets who won the game 5-3 in part thanks to Diaz pitching efforts.
Blasterjaxx and Timmy Trumpet first released their collaboration Narco back in 2017, so the newfound renaissance of the track can almost entirely be attributed to Diaz's usage of the song. It is yet another example of how music can find a second wind, following similar viral-assisted charting efforts from Kate Bush, Metallica, Fleetwood Mac and more.
