Aussie Women Storm The Charts

Local women have made their presence felt on the ARIA Albums Chart this week, with Divinyls, Renee Geyer and Owl Eyes all sending new entries into the top 50.

Divinyls' The Essential entered at 14 following the death of frontwoman Chrissy Amphlett last week. The best of release is receiving the inevitable sales-bump that occurs after the passing of a musical legend and it may continue into next week. The band's hit – and previous number one I Touch Myself re-entered the ARIA Singles Chart at 49.

Not far behind was the brand new record from veteran Renee Geyer whose Swing debuted at 22, while Melbourne songstress Owl Eyes' Nightswim came in at 28.

The highest overall debut came from French indie outfit Pheonix who debuted at five with new album Bankrupt!, as was predicted. Sydney producer Flume continued his festival bump (Groovin The Moo, One Night Stand) as his self-titled debut record rose to four, having now spent 24 weeks in the chart and peaked at one. Russell Morris also got another push into his highest position ever on the charts, with last year's Sharkmouth up to six.

Michael Buble's To Be Loved remained number one in its second week while will.i.am's #willpower debuted at nine, Bryan Adams' His Greatest Hits at 18 and Rob Zombie's Venomous Rat Regeneration Vender at 36.

Announced on Splendour In The Grass, Frank Ocean's channel ORANGE re-entered at 37.

In the ARIA Singles Chart Passenger's Let Her Go accrued its fifth straight week at number one – the longest stretch since Macklemore & Ryan Lewis' Thrift Shop racked up seven consecutive weeks in December last year. The track's lead over second spot – which a few weeks ago was as high as double – is down to 0.3 percent however with Daft Punk's comeback single Get Lucky featuring Pharrell Williams and Nile Rodgers debuting at two. The French electro giants' previous high was position ten with One More Time back in 2001.

Once again The Voice 2013 is struggling to have the same impact as the first season (which dominated the singles chart for months) with contestant Celia Pavey's version of A Thousand Years arriving at just 33. The original version, by Christina Perri, was pushed back into the charts higher than the reality TV version at 31.

There was no sign of Leonardo's Bride after frontwoman Abby Dobson appeared on the show but failed to get past the audition process.
