Aussie Outfit King Parrot Score Massive Pantera & Lamb Of God US Supports

Melbourne grindcore band King Parrot have scored the support slot of a lifetime, opening for Pantera with special guests Lamb Of God in the US this September.

King Parrot join the bill for the last five shows of the tour, opening for the two metal legends on the 7^th, 8^th, 12^th, 14^th and 15^th of September. The Aussies will also soon announce a run of North American headline shows.

Before they head to the US for some massive shows, King Parrot will put on the USA or Bust: Band in Australia tour throughout weekends in July and August. You can find tour details for the band’s Australian and Pantera opening dates below.

The band’s upcoming national tour is described as “extreme metal carnage,” and you know what, fair enough. The tour will also feature some road-tested new songs from King Parrot’s untitled forthcoming album.

In March 2018, King Parrot’s Matt Young was part of a panel discussing mental health in metal music: the Mastering Music Mastering Life Mental Health Summit.

The host, renowned sound engineer Tony ‘Jack the Bear’ Mantz told The Music about the event, “The discussion will also include a look at substance abuse, addiction issues and general life challenges around work, life and relationships.

“More importantly we want to explore and look at practical ways to deal with these topics better.”

In December 2017, Young said that his mum didn’t truly “get” the music he makes with King Parrot, admitting to The Music that she “wasn't too impressed with any of them [King Parrot albums].”

He added, “She's never really that impressed with it. She's happy that I get to do what I get to do. She says, 'Oh yeah, it's good, it's good, well done.’ But I can see her blushing and shaking her head, and just going, 'What the hell is he doing?'" Well, Young is opening for Pantera, that’s what he’s doing.
