Numerous Australian rock music legends have joined forces to recreate The Rolling Stones’ legendary 1973 Melbourne show, celebrating the 50th anniversary of the British rock group’s Kooyong concert.
The vast line-up behind The Monkey Men sports stars you know and love forming a supergroup poised to reprise an unforgettable moment in music history this October and November.
The Monkey Men are Tim Rogers on lead vocals, Andre Warhurst (Chris Cheney, Rare Byrds) and Davey Lane (You Am I) on guitars, Stephen Hadley (Tex Perkins, Paul Kelly) on bass, Matthew Cotter (Even) on drums, Bruce Haymes (Paul Kelly, Renee Geyer) on keys, Jack Howard (Hunters & Collectors) and Ben Marsland on horns and Eliza and Talei Wolfgramm on backing vocals.
In addition to the band, The Rolling Stones’ original 1973 support act, Madder Lake, will open for The Monkey Men in Upwey and Yarraville.
The idea to recreate The Rolling Stones’ matinee concert in Kooyong on their Exile On Main Street tour comes from “self-confessed Rolling Stones tragics” 3RRR's Off The Record's Brian Wise, Son of Crawdaddy's Max Crawdaddy and Cherry Bar owner James Young.
Young said in a statement, “All I can say is check out the setlist and see you at the shows”. You can find the track-for-track tribute setlist below.
