Aus Promoter Issues Warning As Shaggy Imposter Tries To Scam Fans

The promoter behind Shaggy’s co-headline tour with Sean Paul has issued a warning to punters following reports of a scammer pretending to be the artist online.

Earlier this week, Shaggy posted a statement to Instagram, urging fans to be careful after he had been made aware of the scammer.

"It has come to my attention that there have been posts online from people purporting to be me and hitting up my fans for money while making false claims that they owe me something,” Shaggy said. 

“I would like to make it clear that these are nothing more than an internet scam. They are not from me nor do they represent me in any way. It saddens me that this has become our reality and that innocent people are being dragged into this ridiculousness.”

Scott Mesiti, the Director of MJR Presents, who is bringing the Boombastic star to Australia in early 2020, has confirmed the upcoming tour is “100% the real deal”, but fans should be cautious when purchasing tickets, which go on sale tonight.

“To avoid disappointment and guarantee the tickets they buy are genuine, fans should avoid any unauthorised sellers and either purchase through the MJR Presents website or through our official ticketing partner, Ticketek,” Mesiti said.

Shaggy and Sean Paul will perform three co-headline shows across January and February alongside an appearance at One Love Festival.
