Ashley McBryde Joins Halestorm On New Version Of ‘Terrible Things’

Ashley McBryde joins rock band, Halestorm on a new version of their song, Terrible Things. The original track featured on their album Back From The Dead, which was released in May 2022.

Halestorm shared a sneak preview of the collaboration on their facebook page here, while McBryde captioned on social media, “So excited to be a part of this one...”

The song and music video are due out at midday on May 25 (AEST).

Many of the Back From The Dead album's lyrics are informed by singer and guitarist Lzzy Hale's experiences of self-discovery as a musician disconnected from fans and bandmates during the pandemic, with mental health being a common theme in the album's lyrics.

"We started writing this album about three months B.C. (Before COVID). Once we went into lockdown and were unable to perform and tour, I fell into a dark place and something of an identity crisis,” Hale said in a press release. “This album is the story of me carving myself out of that abyss. It is a journey of navigating mental health, debauchery, survival, redemption, rediscovery, and still maintaining faith in humanity."

McBryde has previously collaborated with the likes of Caylee Hammack, Pillbox Patti, Brandy Clark, Brothers Osborne and most recently Carly Pearce on Never Wanted To Be That Girl which won ‘Best Country Duo/Group Performance’ at the 2023 Grammy Awards.

Raised in Mammoth Spring, Arkansas, McBryde took to music from a young age. At three, she’d secretly pluck her father’s guitar like an upright bass, and after about the 17th time being caught, her father bought her a guitar of her own. When she was twelve, she played her parents and grandparents her very first composition.

During her college years, while a member of the marching band, she started sharing her voice with others – first at karaoke parties, then in a band, and then in Memphis where she’d play a mix of cover and original songs while still commuting from college. She moved to Nashville in 2007.

Since then, she has released four albums including Jalopies and Expensive Guitars (2016), Girl Going Nowhere (2018), Never Will (2020) and Ashley McBryde Presents: Lindeville (2022).
