“Hold Tight Sydney + Brisbane”
The Chemical Brothers (Hamish Brown)
Fans of UK duo The Chemical Brothers (aka Tom Rowlands and Ed Simons) are getting excited after a cryptic post seemed to point towards the EDM legends holding surprise performances in Sydney and Brisbane.
On Monday (August 28), Frontier Touring took to Facebook to announce what looks to be two mysterious shows taking place in the Australian cities, with the post’s link taking users to a page that read “Hold Tight Sydney + Brisbane” alongside a countdown.
The Facebook post also lists Wednesday, August 30, as a special date — so be sure to set your reminders to find out what all the hubbub is about.
“Exciting news is coming!” the post’s caption simply states.
While the whole thing sounds very cloak-and-dagger, it didn’t take long for eagle-eyed fans to piece things together to speculate that several signs point to The Chemical Brothers announcing something on August 30.

For one, the duo are set to release their tenth studio album For That Beautiful Feeling'on Friday, September 8, so the dates certainly line up.
As well as this, Hold Tight London is the name of the pair’s 2005 track featuring Anne-Lynn Williams from Trespassers William, so the fact that the event states “Hold Tight Sydney + Brisbane” is definitely a major giveaway.
Thirdly, and perhaps most tellingly, the colourful character you can see running in the background of the event’s countdown page is the exact same as the one featured in The Chemical Brothers’ 2023 music video for No Reason.
If true, it marks The Chemical Brothers’ first time Down Under since their 2019 Australian tour alongside The Avalanches, following the release of their ninth studio album No Geography.
While all signs point to yes when asking are The Chemical Brothers planning a surprise show in Sydney and Brisbane — we’ll just have to wait until Wednesday to see exactly what the lads from Manchester have in stall for us!
