Are One Direction Getting Back Together?

One Direction fans have been waiting for some kind of news surrounding the UK boy band’s reunion since they went on indefinite hiatus in January 2016.

Band members have shared little teases over the years, but after appearing on Channel 10’s The Project this week, Niall Horan has lit a fire under reunion rumours once again.

Horan that he’s asked about the band’s reformation “nine times a day for the last six years” and told The Project’s Georgie Tunny, “There’s never been a conversation about it, so I know as much as you.”

“As Harry said, I would never say no,” Horan continued, referring to Harry Styles’ recent comments on The Late Late Show With James Corden.

Styles recently said, “I think I would never say never to that.”

However, it might not be so simple for all the members. Last year, Liam Payne revealed some of his true feelings about his former bandmates on the Logan Paul Podcast.

"It was well-known within the band that I don't like taking shit," Payne began.

He then told a story that involved violence from an undisclosed member of the band and recalled, "There was one moment where there was an argument backstage and one member, in particular, threw me up a wall. So I said to him, 'If you don't remove those hands there's a high likelihood you'll never use them again.'"

This week, Horan announced his upcoming Australian tour, due to take place in April 2024.

“I have said it many times, but I do mean it when I say that the times I have spent down under are some of the best periods of my life,” Horan said upon announcing the tour. “I have had amazing shows in Australia and New Zealand, and I cannot wait to be back in 2024.

“My favourite thing in the world is being on tour. Performing my songs for my fans and sharing those incredible moments together are the reason why I write music in the first place. This is going to be my best tour yet and I cannot wait to see all you ‘lovers’ in 2024.”

His One Direction bandmate, Harry Styles, hit Australian shores in February this year for his long-awaited Love On Tour. Did his shows live up to the hype? The Music’s reviewer thought his Perth show did and said:

“Showing a true testament to the man’s ability to sell out arenas and fill them with songs that can really erupt in their grandeur. As the man disappeared with a kiss to a rapture of applause, the final words were left buzzing on the screen:

‘Thanks for making Harry’s House a Home’”.
