Are Iron Maiden Teasing A 2024 Australian Tour?

Heavy metal Christmas could be approaching, with British heavy metal legends Iron Maiden potentially plotting a 2024 Australian tour.

Sharing a new video to social media platforms this morning (10 October), the clip is captioned, “With the 2023 tour in the bag, thoughts turn to where we’re going next…” with band and crew members teasing their 2024 return to our shores, reprising a similar clip they put out in 2019 before their 2020 tour was unceremoniously ripped away from us due to Covid-19.

Flashing back to their 2019 teaser video, Iron Maiden roadie Colin Price plays Waltzing Matilda on the electric guitar while flashing forward to now, drummer Nicko McBrain jams on the drums. Another flashback to 2019 comes, with McBrain staring at a boomerang and the band’s beloved mascot, Eddie, wearing a “G’Day Australia” corkscrew fly hat.

While we don’t know when tour dates will be announced, with a teaser video like this, we’re happy to guess that they’re not far off. You can watch the teaser video below.

In March 2020, Iron Maiden cancelled their May 2020 Australian tour, which was due to bring heavyweights Killswitch Engage as special guests.

“We are hugely disappointed not to be seeing our fans in Australia and New Zealand in May due to the understandable Government concert bans surrounding coronavirus. Sadly these are difficult and uncertain times for us all,” Iron Maiden co-manager Rod Smallwood said in a statement at the time.

Smallwood added, “We still intend to bring this great Legacy Of The Beast show to you all as soon we can, and I promise we will do everything we can to achieve this with our promoters and subject to what is happening around us globally.”

In May 2020, Smallwood shared that the band were “working on” rescheduling several tours they'd been forced to call off, including Australia, to 2022. While Iron Maiden were one of the international casualties of touring throughout Australia throughout the pandemic stages of Covid-19, the dates are finally coming soon.

Earlier this year, drummer Nicko McBrain detailed his harrowing experience with a stroke and subsequent paralysis on the right side of his body.

McBrain shared a “very, very personal” message with Iron Maiden’s devoted fans by posting a video to the band's social media channels. “I wasn’t well earlier this year, as some of you have quite rightly noticed,” he said.

With a smile, McBrain continued, “I just wanted to let you know, video-wise, so you can see how handsome and well I’m looking, that I’m feeling 100 per cent well.”

In the Instagram caption, McBrain revealed that he embarked on ten weeks of intense therapy to be tour-ready once again after the stroke.
