Architects Announce Australian Tour Supports

Aussie rockers Thornhill and Canadian melodic hardcore quintet Counterparts have joined the bill of British metallers Architects' upcoming Australian tour, which begins in just over a month.

A few months ago, Architects announced a 2023 Australian tour, their first shows since performing at Unify in January 2020 and a broader tour in August 2019. The announcement arrived alongside the release of their tenth album, the classic symptoms of a broken spirit.  

Live Nation Australia, Unify, and triple j present one of the rock shows of 2023. Architects will begin their run through the country on Friday, 17 February, in Adelaide, before heading to Melbourne, Sydney, and Brisbane.

the classic symptoms of a broken spirit follows the ARIA #1 album, For Those That Wish To Exist. The albums share Architects' latest songwriting style, blending industrial and electronic elements into metal music. The band barely had time to celebrate success when they began the process of writing the songs that make up the new record—produced by band members, drummer Dan Searle and guitarist Josh Middleton, with additional production from vocalist Sam Carter at Deacon's Middle Farm Studios and their own HQ, Electric Studios in Brighton. 

The singles promised a banging album, with when we were young having explosive energy from the get-go, tear gas bringing a big fat riff, deep fake pitting gritty synths against wailing guitar leads, and a new moral low ground coming in with an industrial stomp, moody synths and a maelstrom of riffage.

On the tour announcement, Carter revealed, "We are honestly so excited to get back to one of our favourite places in the world. Australia always makes us feel like home and has given us some incredible memories, and we can't wait to get back out and make more!" 

Counterparts released their great seventh album, A Eulogy For Those Still Here, last year. Vocalist Brendan Murphy, guitarists Adrian Lee and Blake Hardman, drummer Kyle Brownlee and bassist Tyler Williams are no longer underdogs (or only known on Tumblr) - they worked with one of metal's finest, Will Putney (Knocked Loose, Acacia Strain, Every Time I Die, Vein.fm) on their new record. They're sure to move audiences with their brand of melodic hardcore.

Melbourne rockers Thornhill had a massive 2022. Their epic sophomore full-length record Heroine stormed up the charts debuting at #3 on the ARIA Album Chart, debuted at #1 on the Australian album chart, was nominated for an ARIA Award for Best Hard Rock/Heavy Metal Album and has had more than 8.5 million streams to date. The band capped off the year performing at Good Things Festival across the East Coast.
