'A Really Difficult One To Write': Amy Shark On Her Most Personal Song To Date On New Album

After three years, Amy Shark has finally released her second studio album, Cry Forever, out everywhere today. 

Appearing on a new episode of The Green Room With Neil Griffiths podcast, the Queensland songwriter discussed the long-awaited record and latest single, Amy Shark, which has received critical acclaim, saying it's her most personal song to date.

So much so, Shark isn't sure yet if the song will make the setlist on her upcoming arena tour of Australia - click here for more details on the tour.

"[Amy Shark] was a really difficult one to write and a hard one to record," Shark told podcast host Neil Griffiths.

"[It'll] probably be a hard one to perform live. I still don't know if I'm gonna do that.

"It was necessary. I wanted so much to, not beat [debut album Love Monster]... but I just wanted to keep upping the ante and the only way to do that for an artist like me is to really take 'vulnerable' to a whole other level."

Cry Forever follows 2018's Love Monster which proved to be a huge success for Shark and not only debuted at #1 on the ARIA Albums chart, but saw the Gold Coast-born artist pick up the ARIAs for Album Of The Year, Best Pop Release and Best Female Artist.

"I kinda know my fans now," Shark continued.

"I was, kind of, doing Love Monster not in a rush, but just going, going, going and didn't really know if I had fans, let alone know what they were like.

"Now after three, four years... I can sit back and look at it and be able put it into words right and digest it and explain it.

"That's what I did with Amy Shark."
