Under-18s now welcome at all bar one gig of the tour
New York-bred pop upstarts American Authors have responded positively to overwhelming demand from Australian fans to open up their forthcoming Melbourne and Sydney shows to punters of all ages.
The planned gigs this September at the Prince Bandroom and Metro Theatre are the second and third all-ages appearances of their impending tour, with our friends across the ditch in Auckland already having secured entry rights for sub-drinking-age enthusiasts. Brisbane's show, on September 19 at the Hi-Fi, is now the only 18+ show of the tour. Congratulations(?), Brisbane!
The rejig of the entry restrictions comes only a couple of months after significant overhauls to the way Victorian venues do business with respect to all-ages gigs, so it's nice to see some tangible, positive change in the wake of those adjustments.
American Authors are touring in honour of their recently released debut full-length Oh, What A Life (out via Universal), with the impending journey marking their first headline tour of the country (and our nearby neighbours), having briefly passed through earlier this year for a quick promo trip.
