Brisbane’s iconic Breakfast Creek Hotel will host a People’s Day Flood Appeal on Sunday 27 March from 12pm to 6pm with 100 percent of all food, beverage and merchandise sales on the day donated to GIVIT’s Queensland Flood Appeal to be distributed to people impacted by the disaster.

The venue knows all too well the impact of the floods, itself a victim when water streamed through its doors on Sunday 27 February inundating it and taking a team of volunteers and staff who rallied together, three weeks to clean. It’s just the fourth time the venue has been flooded since it opened in 1889.

Breakfast Creek Hotel Venue Manager Lance Burrows said while it was pleasing to see the doors of the hotel reopen recently, the business has turned its attention to helping other people in the community who need assistance.

“We’re part of a local community that’s doing it really tough at the moment and we want to do our part to help raise as much money as we can to support local flood-affected communities, many of whom face a long and expensive clean up. It’s an opportunity for us as a business to support the people and organisations who have supported us over many years,” said Burrows.

On the day, patrons will enjoy live entertainment with performances by country music legend Adam Brand, Made In The 80s Show, Dirty Dice, Vegas Rayz and Michael Geeves, who have kindly donated their time to perform at the event.

Brand added, “So many Australians have been impacted by the floods and, despite all the disaster, the one shining light is how we all come together to pitch in and help us all recover. I really encourage anyone who can to come down and get involved in our flood appeal day.”

There will also be raffles to be won on the day and free face painting for the kids.

“We encourage families to visit the Breakfast Creek Hotel on Sunday 27 March and enjoy the live entertainment while raising vital funds for flood-affected communities,” concluded Burrows.

Gold coin donations will also be accepted on the day with tins located in various locations around the venue.
