The celebrated wordsmith will release his new EP through the label next month
Award-winning poet, rapper and author Omar Musa has yet another feather to stick in his already lusciously plumed hat with the announcement of his signing to stalwart Sydney label Big Village Records ahead of the release of his star-studded new EP, Dead Centre, next month.
The label broke the news of Musa's signing in a Facebook video post, in which they conveyed their excitement at having locked down a deal with an "absolute legend". Musa, too, seems effusive about the deal, given his long and storied history with much of the Big Village cohort.
"Stoked to be joining the BV family — we go way back & I have mucho respect for what they do & they're about," Musa wrote in a statement.
Those aren't just platitudes — Musa is renowned, respected and beloved for his vocal activism and evocative creative work, which might go some way to explaining how he was able to accrue such an impressive array of collaborative talent for the new EP.

"Dead Centre features Kate Miller-Heidke, Lior, L-FRESH The LION, Hau & Mataya," Musa explained. "All production by Joelistics & Poncho (Thundamentals).
"It's my response to these mad times, a journey of sounds & stories & I can't wait to share it with you. Keep your eyes peeled like an emperor's grapes!"
Dead Centre will be released on Friday 5 August via Big Village Records.
