First music acts announced
The organisers of the 2015 Newtown Festival, the hugely popular annual fundraiser for the Newtown Neighbourhood Centre, have announced the first lineup of artists performing 8 November at Camperdown Memorial Rest Park.
In no particular order, festival-goers will see Jinja Safari, psych shoegazers The Laurels, The Cops, The Walking Who, Steve Smyth, horn-driven hip hop trio True Vibenation, Gordi, Spookyland, reggae/ska/dancehall exponents The Strides, hip hop duo Coda Conduct, Okenyo, MC B Wise, Le Pie, psych/garage/boogie merchants The Persian Drugs, Flowertruck and and the soul/funk/hip hop Yum Yum. And that's just the first announcement!
Meanwhile, over in Newtopia Village, the infamous La Toosh tram/stage will host gypsy, ska, reggae, dub, blues, swing, jazz and more, including Project Collective Ska, Queen Porter Stomp, Betty & Oswald and Midnight Tea Party. As well as entertainment over five stages, Newtown Festival hosts almost 300 stalls, a Writers' Tent, Dog Show, Vocal Local Village, Kids Zone, Live Art Hub, Eco Oasis, roving performers and much more, all for free, though a simple gold coin donation will go a long way.
