Genre-bending rap collective 1300 have officially dropped their white-hot second mixtape, GEORGE, with a national tour announcement also landing to celebrate the release.
The Korean/Australian group – based in Sydney (Eora) and comprising rappers rako and goyo, rapper-singer-dancer DALI HART, producer-singer Nerdie and producer pokari.sweat – first made waves in 2021 with a trio of killer standalone singles (Brr, No Caller ID and Smashmouth) before establishing themselves as true legends of the underground scene with their debut mixtape, Foreign Language, in April of 2022.
They kept the fires burning with last February’s five-track <3 EP, and only a few months later, kicked off their new era with another string of singles: Lalaland dropped to major acclaim in October, followed by the EK-assisted GANTZ in November, and Ape Shit (for which they linked up with sokodomo) in January of this year. All three of those singles are featured on GEORGE, alongside another belting collaboration with Easymind and odeen called Wire.
The new mixtape launched in its entirety today (April 17), alongside a music video for the focus track Levitate – have a look at that below:
A press release describes GEORGE quite aptly as “a forceful declaration [and] an audacious musical venture entrenched in the intricate intersection of culture and wholly reflective of the supergroup’s life experiences in straddling their connection, or lack-there-of, in Australia and South Korea, amidst the backdrop of doom-scrolling, deep fakes and digital misinformation.”
