She said the cut is about “feeling undervalued and aiming for a sky you can’t see yet”.

It’s a big day for Aussie rap queen Tkay Maidza, with her song High Beams soundtracking the official unveiling of the iPhone 15.
The new iPhone was unveiled by Apple at its flagship Wonderlust event, which kicked off at 3am AEST. The trippy and swaggering High Beams was a perfect score for the moment, with Tkay’s bewitching bars synced to a visual of all the new iPhone 15 colours (pink, yellow, green, blue and black) being shown off.
Tkay herself was stoked with the “insane” inclusion, shouting Apple out in a post shared on Instagram. In it, she described the Dan Farber-produced track – which first appeared on her 2021 EP Last Year Was Weird (Vol. 3) – as “a favourite that was never a single [and is] about feeling undervalued and aiming for a sky you can’t see yet”.

Fans will be able to see Tkay play High Beams at this year’s Spilt Milk festival, where she’s performing alongside the likes of Post Malone, Latto and Dom Dolla. The national run will kick off shortly after Tkay releases her second studio album, Sweet Justice, on November 3 via 4AD and Dew Process.
Elsewhere at Apple’s Wonderlust event, the company unveiled a new second-gen model of its AirPods Pro earbuds, as well as the iPhone 15 Pro; the latter was used to shoot the newly released music video for Olivia Rodrigo’s single get him back!
The iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Pro and second-gen AirPods Pro will all be available to buy next Friday (September 22). Head here to learn about all of the iPhone 15’s new features.
