Only Two 2024 Released Albums Crack The ARIA Top 20 This Week

Looking at the Top 20 for the ARIA Albums Chart for the week of 4 March 2024, there’s a significant statistic worth mentioning: only two albums released this year are in the Top 20.

Taylor Swift’s Australian Eras Tour dates came to an end at the end of February, but her reign on our charts didn’t – nine Taylor Swift albums have flooded the past week’s ARIA Top 20 albums.

The chart features Midnights at #1, Lover at #2, 1989 (Taylor’s Version) at #3, Folklore at #4, Reputation at #5, Evermore at #6, Red (Taylor’s Version) at #8, Speak Now (Taylor’s Version) at #13, and Fearless (Taylor’s Version) at #14.

Elsewhere, albums released in 2023 and earlier, including from P!nk, Noah Kahan, SZA, Morgan Wallen, Olivia Rodrigo, Maroon 5 and more, have nabbed spots on the chart.

Only two albums released in 2024 featured on last week’s Top 20, and they are Vultures 1 by Kanye West and Ty Dolla $ign (at #11), and Rod Stewart and Jools Holland’s collaborative LP, Swing Fever at #19.

As Mumbrella reports, Swing Fever is Stewart’s 32nd album to hit the Top 20 in Australia, while it’s Holland’s first appearance on the ARIA Charts since Squeeze landed at #18 with Cool For Cats in 1979.

Things fare better on the ARIA Top 20 Vinyl Chart, where the 2023 repress of Frenzal Rhomb’s 2006 LP Forever Malcolm Young is at #5, The Terrys’ Skate Pop is at #6, Swing Fever is at #9, while the 1999 Steps album, Steptacular, recently released on vinyl, is at #18.

Other 2024 albums on the chart include Pratts & Pain by Royel Otis (#15), TANGK by Idles (#13), and Gracie Abrams’ The Good Riddance Acoustic Shows (Live) at #12.

In an October report on The Music, only six of the songs that featured on the Top 20 ARIA Australian Artists Singles were released in 2023, and three of them belonged to Troye Sivan.

The other tracks are Too Much at #1, Atmosphere by Fisher and Kita Alexander (#9), and Give You Love by Jessica Mauboy and Jason Derulo (#13).
