Great Southern Nights To Bring 300 Gigs To NSW In 2024

Prepare for a massive summer and autumn coming to New South Wales, as the NSW Government and Destination NSW’s Great Southern Nights extravaganza has teamed up with ARIA to present 300 gigs across the state in March 2024.

Taking place from Friday, 8 to Sunday, 24 March 2024, the NSW government and ARIA have ensured the next four years of Great Southern Nights with a humongous bill keeping people busy and jamming.

Great Southern Nights will present a “taster” event in November 2023, with ten nights of live music set to take over Western Sydney and the Inner West.

From Thursday, 16 November, Sydneysiders and broader NSW punters can catch beloved Aussie acts such as Thelma Plum, Alex The Astronaut, Dami Im, Jet and The Temper Trap in Parramatta, Penrith, Enmore, Marrickville and Newtown.

This is just a small showcase of what Great Southern Nights will offer in March 2024, which will expand from central and Western Sydney to Wollongong, Wagga Wagga, Newcastle, the Northern Rivers and Tamworth. 

The entire artist line-up for the 2024 Great Southern Nights event will be revealed in December, with 17 nights of diverse music locked in and encouraging punters to contribute to NSW tourism between gigs.

From Thursday, 16 November, until Saturday, 25 November, the preview for Great Southern Nights will host local favourites Alex The Astronaut, country superstar Beccy Cole, Dami Im, Isabella Manfredi, rockers Jet, Tasman Keith and 3% plus Guests, The Temper Trap, Thelma Plum and deathcore outfit Thy Art is Murder.

Tickets for the November “taster” go on sale at 9 am on Tuesday, 19 September, via the Great Southern Nights website.

Alex The Astronaut said, “It's an honour to be a part of the Great Southern Nights program for 2023. It means a lot that the government is continuing to add bricks to a music industry that is still rebuilding itself. I can’t wait to put on a show.”

The NSW Minister For Music, John Graham, added, “Bringing back Great Southern Nights aligns with the policy direction the NSW Government is taking – we're shifting the focus from destination travel to experience tourism with an emphasis on creating a cultural identity for the state.

“We know that the music industry requires greater support to revive live music venues across the state and support artists and workers in the industry, which is why our Government is committed to bring back Great Southern Nights over the next four years.

“We have enormous potential here in NSW to create an immersive, unique visitor experience that combines the nation’s best natural encounters, great cuisine and local hospitality with a world-class cultural experience.”

Graham concluded, “This is more than a series of live gigs – it's a display of how the collective passion for live music can deliver rich cultural moments that resonate with locals and visitors alike to create unforgettable experiences.”
