ICYMI: Highlights From The Full Flower Moon Beer Launch Party

Last Thursday evening, The Triffid opened its doors to over 300 members of Brisbane’s local music industry coming together to catchup, connect and celebrate the winners of The Music’s Underground Hidden Gems 2023 competition, the formidable local legends Full Flower Moon Band and the launch of their very own Mountain Goat beer, aptly titled, the Full Flower Moon Beer.

Since first supporting The Music’s Underground Playlists in January this year, Mountain Goat Beer has helped to champion over 500 featured up-and-coming artists across Australia’s rich and diverse emerging music scene. March then saw the kick-off of the Underground Hidden Gems Competition spotlighting 10 independent artists across the country, welcoming fans to vote for their favourite artist to win their very own beer and $10,000 towards their career, courtesy of Mountain Goat, alongside the opportunity to be featured as The Music’s Cover Artist. Showcasing Bones and Jones, Kira Puru and The Velvet Club from Victoria, Dulcie, DICE and South Summit from WA, Sydney’s The Lazy Eyes and Queensland’s Full Flower Moon Band, Hope D and BUGS, the month-long voting between fierce competition saw the beloved Brisbane band come out on top.

Following their Cover Feature, Mountain Goat and Full Flower Moon Band then set to work to bring the Full Flower Moon Beer into the world, adding the band to the list of legendary beer alumni artists with a can of their own.

The Launch Party, supported also by QMusic’s Industry Connect Program, invited local industry to enjoy a night of networking and live music together whilst sampling the collaborative creation for themselves.

Alongside the star of the show, guests also had the option to taste test some of Mountain Goat’s extended beverage menu, with their Hopped Gin and Tonics and GOAT Delicious Ginger Beers floating the room while attendees were welcomed to the evening with promises of surprises to come.

Throughout the night, lines made their way to the temporary tattoo station, run by local tattoo/visual artist Georgie Beable (@georgetattooing) from Kauai Tattoo for guests to grab a Mountain Goat-inspired memento for the ride home.

Up to the stage strode Full Flower Moon Band to cap off the event with an exhilarating live set, giving the crowd a taste of all that’s to come for their August headline show at The Princess Theatre and their fast-approaching spot at this year’s Splendour In The Grass. Capturing attendees from the very first strum, Full Flower Moon Band’s electrifying performance and hypnotising stage presence showed the crowd without a doubt why they took out the competition crown. For a moment, frontwoman Kate ‘Babyshakes’ Dillon disappears from the stage, returning with their $10,000 winning cheque in hand, the room reverberating in cheers, leaving fans with hopes stronger than ever for some new music on the horizon arriving soon.

The Triffid abuzz after Full Flower Moon Band’s departure, guests were invited to continue enjoying the night’s festivities with 2023 QUBE Effect finalists It’s Acrylic later rounding out the evening with yet another high-octane performance.

As the night wound to a close, laughter and smiles filtered out to The Triffid’s beer garden, relishing the opportunity to regroup as an industry, make new connections, share new ideas, and celebrate some of Brisbane’s most beloved talent as Full Flower Moon Band continue to embark on one of their biggest year’s yet, with undoubtedly many more flurries of success to come around the corner.
