The news comes as the rapper unveils his debut album, ‘Lovesick’.
YNG Martyr (She Is Aphrodite)
It’s a huge day for Naarm/Melbourne-based Wiradjuri artist YNG Martyr: not only has he just launched his debut album Lovesick, but he’s also announcing – exclusively here on The Music – that he’s signed to Dew Process Publishing.
The artist (real name Seaton Rogers) was poached for the independent publishing arm of Dew Process – itself a part of the Secret Sounds Group – by A&R manager Harry Young. He said in a press statement, “Seaton is an exceptionally talented artist and songwriter. With boundless creativity and a unique perspective on both artistry and marketing, he's poised to achieve monumental success and we're thrilled to join him on this journey.”
The excitement was echoed by Rogers himself, who added: “Dew Process Publishing are sick – they’re a team that genuinely believes in the vision of my music. I’m amped to see what we can make happen in the future. Also their office smells really good so that’s cool.”
With his addition to the Dew Process Publishing roster, Rogers joins the likes of Mallrat, Spacey Jane, Evan Klar, Nuxe, Lola Scott and JXN.
Lovesick is out today (August 11) via Warner Music Australia – Black17 for the rest of the world – and features the singles Overthinking, As I Should (featuring Allday), 5 Years, WAIT! (featuring Logan M) and Frostbite. A tour in support of it is yet to be announced, but Rogers will launch the album IRL tomorrow (August 12) with a listening party in Fitzroy – head here for more info on that.
