Ahead of the 2024 Queensland Music Awards (QMAs) – which are slated to go down in just a scratch under a fortnight – QMusic have shared the full list of finalists for the Album Of The Year and People’s Choice awards.

First up are the four acts in the running for Album Of The Year: Cub Sport for their career-defining effort Jesus At The Gay Bar, Holy Holy for Cellophane, Lastlings for Perfect World, and Robert Forster for The Candle And The Flame. Notably, too, Cub Sport are also up for both the Electronic Award (for which they’ve earned a nod at the hand of album cut Songs About It) and the Pop Award (for Keep Me Safe).

Meanwhile, a total of 12 Queensland venues were named finalists among the four People’s Choice categories. The Fortitude Music Hall, The Sandstone Point Hotel and The Tivoli are all vying for the title of Metro Venue Of The Year, while the King’s Beach Tavern, Miami Marketta and Solbar will go head to head for Regional Venue Of The Year.

Festival Of The Year nominees include Battle Of The ROCK Bands, the Gympie Music Muster and the Tablelands Folk Festival. And last but certainly not least, the Brisbane Powerhouse, Kingston Butter Factory Cultural Precinct and Tanks Arts Centre are all in the running to be named Accessible Venue Of The Year.

In a press statement, Brian ‘Smash’ Chladil – co-founder of Oztix, who are co-presenting the former three People’s Choice awards alongside TheMusic.com.au – said of this year’s impending QMAs: “With over 5,000 votes cast for this year’s choice awards, already the energy for the QMAs is at a record high. We’ve been proud sponsors of the QMAs for many years, and love being amongst the incredible emerging and established talent across our state.

“This year will be extra special for us as it marks both 30 years of QMusic and Oztix’s 20th anniversary as Australia’s largest independent ticketing company. We celebrate this milestone by putting our money where our heart and soul is – reinvesting back into our industry with sponsorships and support.”
