Mr Self Destructo.
Vicious launch Mondo Destructo on Wednesday at the Rose’n’Crown, Surfers Paradise, Friday at the Byron Bay Youth Centre and Saturday at the Gabba Hotel.
“It's better than the last album,” starts Vicious bassist Deano Vomit. “Bigger, fatter, uglier and chunkier...”
“And so am I,” cuts in drummer Danny Thrash.
“We rushed to get it through but I'm really happy with it,” says guitarist The Don.
Why should everyone want to own a copy of Mondo Destructo?
“It's good value and if you like that sort of music you'll like the album, I guess,” states Danny.
Okay then tell me about the value?
“17 songs, has a CD-ROM, it looks all pro 'cause Deano did it and spent about a gazillion hours doing it all.”
Tell me about the film clip that's on the CD-ROM?
“Chaos,” Deano starts.
“What actually happened was we had pro camera's lined-up... it was at Shane's old house. ..and they didn't turn up so we had a stand by handy cam and filmed it all on that. It was basically just a party we had. We had all this shit planned to do for the clip but since the camera didn't come we just got pissed and had a party.”
“Shane got evicted officially a couple of weeks before and we thought it was perfect timing to destroy,” Deano further explains.
“Yeah we just destroyed he's house and destroyed everything,” Danny adds. “You know it's a good party when a fire truck and police come at the end of it.”
"No one in Australia that I know of or have seen has ever made a film clip like it,” Deano says. “It'll blow people away; you have to watch it about five times to see all the little bits and pieces. It's real, basically we just had lots of beer.”
I heard The Don is also called The Italian Stallion, why?
Danny sheds light on the subject. “For starters Don's the Godfather, he also tends to Don his way through life. Because he is the godfather and at the time when he use to live in Southport he had a protection racket going with he's street. It was a car yard and they paid him a slab a week to keep everything under watch. He actually caught some people one day.”
“I am no longer the Italian Stallion as I am having a baby soon and Shane made that up for me, and that's it about all on that,” states the Don.
Tell me something about front man Shane L Passage?
“He can't sing,” Deano says. “And look at his name; that's funny enough. He makes good shirts. He has a stupid haircut.”
“Umm, what won't I get punched for saying?” says The Don.
Going on past interviews does he still want to get some guns and mow down people?
“It's all sarcasm; it's a total reflection of the world around us. You should ask Shane.”
Vicious recently did a show with Frenzal Rhomb and I heard you were blamed for inciting riots?
“That was me I punched Jason (Frenzal's singer) out back stage,” Deano says.
“We got sick of their music so I just came up real close to him a glassed him in the eye,” Danny laughs. “That's really what happened.”
“No it's not...we don't know anything about anything,” Deano jumps in.
“Some guy threw a bottle at Jason and bottom line is we had nothing to do with it. We don't condone that type of stuff,” Danny says.
Vicious must have the most loyal followers people have seen for a local band, some even have Vicious tattoo's; how's that make you feel?
“There's nothing else to do on the coast', says Deano.
“Stoked and surprised. They even travel to all our gigs,” Danny also adds.
“Dead Man Dan is just a classic mate,” Deano and Danny agree.
What are your hidden talents?
“I can touch my (makes a beeping noise) with my (another beeping noise),” Deano says.
“That's true I've seen the photo's and I was there”, Danny backs him up. “One of the words is tongue... the other is toe.”
