"It reflects the fragility of the current situation for this bunch of working musicians..."
Mick Thomas' Roving Commission is back with a new video today, premiering on The Music.
The nine minute long track was released last week and features artists like Frente's Angie Hart, Ron S Peno, The Waifs' Vikki Thorn, Alana Jagt and more who make appearances in the video via Zoom call and animation.
"In the video we see Zoom screens rendered as hand done drawings (once again by cartoonist Angelo Madrid who animated my last single Anything You Recognise). This is an attempt to humanise an ever alien and isolating world," explained Thomas.
"We get to recognise the various contributors to the song one by one in their various natural habitats and there's always a smile on screen somewhere as they beam in from around the country with the same message: see you on the other side. It reflects the fragility of the current situation for this bunch of working musicians - not so much We Are The World as 'We Were The World' - will you tell us when it's time to play for you?"
The track is set to feature on Mick Thomas' Roving Commission's forthcoming album See You On The Other Side. The album will also feature the track Mint Condition, which features on the recently announced Melbourne music scene television show of the same name.
Check out the video above. See You When I'm Looking At You currently only available from Thomas' Bandcamp page, with all proceeds to go towards the Asylum Seekers Resource Centre (ASRC). Check it out here.
