Paying tribute to iconic figures of Aussie rock.
Singer-songwriter Michael Waugh grew up taking heavy influence from iconic figures of Aussie rock, which is what inspired the lead single from his next album.
Premiering today via The Music, This Song Reminds Me and its accompanying music video pay tribute to those acts.
“Their songs remind me of where I’ve been and who I am,” Waugh told The Music.
“When I went to make this music video with Alya Manzart (Chunky Moves dancer) and James Vinson (director of the video and script editor for Foxtel’s Wentworth), we started by analysing the videos of those legendary artists.
“We looked at Michael Hutchence’s swagger, Chrissy Amphlett’s iconic pose in the Pleasure & Pain video, Greedy Smith’s cartoon-esque sway, Barnesy’s guttural scream, Garrett’s classic hand moves.
“These heroes of my childhood were iconic and distinctive and their songs and moves are emblazoned in my memory. So, our idea was that we’d bring those movements into my lounge room in the same way that their songs are a part of my everyday lived experience.”
