Released back in March this year, Vallis Alps' Fable EP has been one of Australian electronic's best lengthy releases of the year, with stand-out singles such as Fading and East solidifying the Sydney pairing as one of Australia's most-loved acts. Oceans is the first single since the EP, and it sees Vallis Alps return to their fine form ahead of a whole heap of studio time and touring internationally. “Oceans was born from a conversation we had about Tahirih, a 19th-century woman who fought and died for the emancipation of women in Iran," the pair says of the single. "It led us to think about the daily sacrifices that women make for the fight for equality, and we wanted to write a song about carrying that weight and thriving in spite of it. As Oceans formed, it became both a celebration and an expression of admiration for those figures in our lives and in history that are examples of this.”

Oceans boasts Vallis Alps' typically upbeat and euphoric sound, with the soft vocals of frontwoman Parissa Tosif floating above the single's perky production, which plucks away underneath. The duo are the latest Australian act with their eyes set on the international market, following on from names like RÜFÜS in playing sold-out shows and festivals across the US and UK, as well as Australia's Falls Festival and Splendour In The Grass. Check 'em out at this year's Listen Out Festival, which kicks off at the end of this month.
