Brisbane talent Blair Burcher debuts new single and takes the reins for the latest Turn Up Friday..

Rubbing shoulders with the likes of Midas.Gold, and the remainder of the talents emerging from Brisbane's hip hop scene, similarly talented Blair Burcher is poised to stake a claim of his own to some of the respect and attention accorded to his comrades and collaborators. Now, with the release of new single Do My Own Thing, Bulcher is ready to show his talents to the world.

Of the brand new release, Burcher said:

"The track basically started off with me one day in my bedroom making a beat, I found a sample just out of curiosity and flipped it, unintentionally knowing it would really grab my ear. I layed down some drums and then just started humming and ahhing some melodies and flows, next thing you know I had figured out the hook. I definitely felt a massive Travis Scott influence come through me, he is one the artist that I seem to always have on repeat (he is a goddamn genius). After I got the hook down I pretty much knew what sort of direction I wanted to take the verses. The song is basically just about embracing the the trials and tribulations I may face in life, to just keep on moving forward, to learn to let go and stop living in the past and do what I can to get to where I want to be all while staying true to me and I feel like a lot of people can relate to that."

Indeed, while Burcher will, without question, draw comparisons to his fellow BNE hip hop artists, it may well be his subject matter that allows the artist to set himself apart. Touching on profound honesty and keen personal insight, Do My Own Thing is an extraordinary indication of the extent of Burcher's talents as a solo artist.

In celebration of the release of Bulcher's debut single, Pilerats and Turn Up Friday join forces with the Brisbane local for the latest curated edition of the weekly collection of party-starting jams, featuring such names as Travi$ Scott and J Cole.

Goosebumps (ft. Kendrick Lamar) — Travi$ Scott

"Travis hardly ever disappoints, he is one of my favourite artists no doubt. He is always pushing the envelope in this genre with his production, and it’s definitely no different when it came to this track. I love the Kendrick feature, of course Travis might have got bodied [on his own song], but it makes for a sonically pleasing song. I love the overall vibe of this track, it is just on point, straight up!"

Free Lunch — Isaiah Rashad

"Man, Isaiah Rashad is that guy. His delivery and flows are just stupid good. This track has a really catchy hook, chill vibes, but a really cool bounce to it. Definitely something I can get jiggy to."

These Days — Mike Stud

"For me, there is just something about tracks when artist/producers can make them super simple while still making them sound full. This song has a really cool groove and the melodies he uses are stupid good."

Cocoon — Migos

"Again, just love how simple but full the track is. I love the way that their flows and the energy they bring to what seems to be a rather chill/ambient beat."

Night Job (ft. J Cole) — Bas

"I love the way that they have flipped the sample, I’m all about a good vibe. Bas is really decent; he does hold his own on this track, but obviously Cole is the stand out. His verses are always crazy, no different here [and] I think that they blend well together to make a really memorable track for me."
