Kicking off on October 23, The Triffid's Sunlight Sessions, featuring The Buoys, Melaleuca, Miranda vs Arizona, and EYESITE, are certainly set to bring some sunshine to your Sunday afternoon.
Iconic Brisbane venue, The Triffid, has announced a new series of live music events to shine a light on the incredible work of the Sunlight Centre, striving to provide free face-to-face crisis counselling and mental health workshops for the local community. The first 'Sunlight Session' kicks off on October 23, with all proceeds going directly to the foundation. To celebrate, we asked the bands on the bill to share some of their golden moments from this year, from outstanding albums to on-stage highlights, and even a couple of ways they like to brighten each others' days.
Tess: Partly Cloudy by Flowertruck and Skinty Fia by Fontaines DC.
Zoe: If I’m real with you, Midnights by Taylor Swift, which hasn’t even been released yet, is dominating my brain lol. But my favourite release of 2022 would have to be Blue Weekend by Wolf Alice.

Hil: For me, it has to be Beyoncé‘s latest offering, Renaissance. It's kept me on the dancefloor all year. Isabella Manfredi‘s album Izzi is also a stand-out. Her song Living in the Wind is full of the feels that tear your heart right out.
This is a tough one! I would have to say the No Pressure self-titled LP. I've been listening to it like crazy!
We’d say At Least I’m Free by WAAX. It took their sound in a fresh new direction, and seeing them live a couple of times, you can tell that their new songs bring the heat.
Big Time by Angel Olsen. I'm a big-time fan. Anything she produces, I'm there.
Tess: Joining the Dandy Warhols onstage for the Hoodoo Gurus encore song in front of a sold-out Hordern [Pavilion].
Zoe: WHAT TESS SAID!
Hil: Thirded!
We played a flood relief show at the Brightside. It was an incredible thing to see so many people come out to support and raise a lot of money to help flood victims in Brisbane and Lismore.
Our hometown show in Kingscliff was everything we could have dreamed it to be. It was the best feeling playing to a crowd of people you know personally, especially since we’ve just finished school, so it was a little bit of a celebration for us and our mates. Also, we had a wall of death and we never thought that would happen at one of our shows.
My first headline show was in May, and I had my first ever encore - a cover of The Beta Band's Dry The Rain. It's one of my favourite songs, and it was epic. I was joined on stage by Fraeya and Baby Cool, my supports for the night, along with my all-star band. We had 8 people on stage in total. It was a dream come true!
Tess: Stars by Simply Red.
Zoe: I’m Every Woman by Chaka Khan.
Hil: Teardrops by Womack and Womack.
Two Strong Hearts by John Farnham
September by Earth, Wind & Fire.
Heaven (Must Be There) by Eurogliders
Tess: Give a rendition of Savage Garden’s I Want You with particular emphasis on the chicka-cherry cola.
Zoe: Silly lyrical improv.
Hil: Whipping out Barramundi by Mark A Hunter.
Send them a funny meme I've made about one of the band members.
Complement how horrific their tones are.
Cook them dinner for rehearsals, and bring beer and chocolate.
