The blissful collaboration is the next taste of the producer's forthcoming album, out on January 14th..
Bonobo is hardly an artist needing an introduction, with the UK producer carving out a title as one of dance music's most seasoned and celebrated musicians; a title bolstered by numerous albums, extensive mixtapes, remixes, and even an entire record label. With all that said, however, his forthcoming seventh album Fragments - out January 14th via Ninja Tune - seems capable of being his hallmark record; encapsulating the musician's sweeping talents and the contrasting, diverse mix of sounds that they often revel amongst.
It's something that's become apparent as singles trickle into the public eye, as singles such as the sweeping Otomo edges towards the heaviest Bonobo's ever sounded in his career thus far. Then, there are songs such as the newly-minted From You, which enlists the cult-favourite Joji for a single that sits upon the other side of Bonobo's artistic spectrum, fluttering with beautiful tones and a near-angelic guest feature that places Joji in a sound he's typically not associated with, but one that he manages to embrace with ease.
Although From You sits amongst the softer side of Bonobo's discography (especially when placed alongside tracks like the aforementioned Otomo and the previously teased Rosewood), it's a single that still captures the subtle euphorics of the club culture that has been near-silenced over the last two years - something that became a key focus of Fragments' creation and influence. "I remembered all over again how much I loved crowds and movement and people connecting with each other," Bonobo says on the single.
From You is the final taste of Fragments before its arrival this Friday, January 14th, via Ninja Tune / PIAS Australia. Pre-order the record here, and take a listen to From You below:
