"All up it totalled roughly 15 minutes to write."
Brissy duo McDermott & North, aka Paddy McDermott and Rhys North, today reveal their first new music of 2021.
Premiering via The Music, Ally is a “heartfelt story about self-discovery and a journey of love and friendship”.
North told The Music: “The song Ally was first written in 2018. I wrote a verse and brought it to Paddy who helped with the chords and chorus, together we were able to flesh out the rest of the song. All up it totalled roughly 15 minutes to write.
“The song’s theme centres around self-discovery in one’s youth and finding what things you do and don’t like.
“’Ally’ is less of a person and more an analogy for something new you find; something you think could make your life better but doesn’t and so you’re forced to look onwards. ‘Ally’ could be anything from new relationships to the vices you develop and how you navigate these as a young adult.”
