“We never knew how relevant this song would be to the challenges this year has brought."
Gather Up The People, as described by Hussy Hicks’ Julz Parker, is an album about “togetherness”.
Set for release this Friday, its title track is premiering today via The Music, and it’s a single that champions the album’s message well.
“We never knew how relevant this song would be to the challenges this year has brought,” Parker told The Music.
“We wrote the song in a national park in Colorado when we were in the USA for our world tour last year, and recorded with our friend and great Alabama vocalist, Kristy Lee.
“At our core, we're a live performance band, so we can't wait to tour this album and bring people together to share this music, but who could have known that Gather Up The People would be such a controversial mantra?”
It’s been a big year for Parker, who also recently produced Beccy Cole’s acclaimed new album, Lioness, and picked up Musician Of The Year at the 2020 Gold Coast Music Awards.
