"What happens to all of those forgotten dreamers?"
Perth hip hop stalwart Drapht has just dropped another taste of his forthcoming album, Shadows & Shinings, with a brand new single premiering exclusively with The Music.
The artist - who also self-produced the single - said that the track was inspired by the allure of fame in the US and the bleak reality of what it takes to make to stardom.
"I wrote this song while I was in LA a few years back," Drapht said of the tune.
"I was staying on the base of the Hollywood Hills, and my friend who lived locally would tell me stories about coyotes taking small pets if they weren't kept inside at night - and then I would see them firsthand rummaging through bins in the neighbourhood."
He added, "On top of this, it seemed like a lot of the people that were driving the Ubers I took were aspiring actors, and it made me think, 'There must be so many people that come to this place and don't come close to fulfilling their dreams. What happens to all of those forgotten dreamers?'"
Shadows & Shinings is slated for release on 10 September. You can pre-order the album here and check out Hollywood Hills above.
