RÜFÜS show their softer side on new single, Say A Prayer For Me

We're now just over a week away until RÜFÜS (stylized as RÜFÜS DU SOL in the States) drop their forthcoming sophomore album, named Bloom, and not ones to let the hype roll away from them, the electronic trio just released Say A Prayer For Me, a brilliant new single from LP. In the lead up to Bloom, we heard the ARIA award winning You Were Right, which saw RÜFÜS come back in style with their signature, bubbly house sound. We then heard Like An Animal, which, similar to You Were Right, showcased the band's creative strength with a blissed-out, tropical-infused single emblazed by the strong, anthemic vocals of frontman Tyrone Lindqvist. Finally, came up the band's risky move. It was in the form of Innerbloom, a sprawling nine minute epic that showed the creative diversity capable of the trio, by changing their radio-ready, uplifting sound into a more stripped-back, deep house sound that toyed with various synth and percussion lines.

In comparison, Say A Prayer For Me is different to all of these. While it's definitely got the features of a radio-ready song like You Were Right, I feel Say A Prayer For Me shows a new direction from the band, a direction I hope that's featured heavily across Bloom. Hand claps, powering percussion and Lindqvist's signature, up-lifting vocal sound blend with building synth chords to create something soothing and blissful, but in an unexplainable sense different to You Were Right and Like An Animal. The single is being released jointly between homegrown heroes Sweat It Out and the Odesza-curated Foreign Family Collective, who will also deal with the US release of Bloom. As Odesza's Harrison Mills explains, "when an opportunity arose to work with RÜFÜS on releasing a track through our label Foreign Family Collective, we sprung at the idea. They sent us the album to check out and we were blown away. Up until this point, FFC had only released singles. After hearing Bloom in its entirety, we knew we had to break that mold and put out the complete album. It’s one of the best albums we’ve come across in the last decade and we couldn’t be prouder to give it a home at Foreign Family Collective" and god freakin' damn, we are bloody excited.
