Austin, Texas-bred troubadour Shakey Graves is just more than a week away from making his maiden voyage Down Under alongside contemporaries Shovels & Rope on their 2015 'Two For The Road' Australian tour. Before he touches down on antipodean soils, though, we're stoked to be hosting the Aussie premiere of Graves' lauded new full-length, And The War Came so local fans can have unhindered access to the full spread of enchanting new work.
Graves — known to the tax man as Alejandro Rose-Garcia — broke through to wide acknowledgment and acclaim back in 2011 off the back of debut LP Roll The Bones, and the ensuing years have seen him move beyond the New York anti-folk scene that birthed him to become a consistently buzzworthy live prospect regardless of setting, from smoked-out back room to late-night television, where in recent months he's shared the small screen with hosts Conan O'Brien and, earlier in February, David Letterman.
Those appearances came in support of new single Dearly Departed, which you'll find among the tracks contained on Graves' confident follow-up. And The War Came will be released via Dualtone/Cooking Vinyl Australia this Friday, 27 February, but why wait any longer? Hit that play button and cast your eyes over the dates and venues you can catch Shakey Graves with Shovels & Rope in the very near future.
Joined by local songstress Ruby Boots (with the exception of the very first gig), Shakey Graves and Shovels & Rope will hit Oakleigh's Caravan Music Club on Tuesday, 3 March; The Corner, in Melbourne, on Wednesday, 4 March; Sydney's The Factory on Thursday, 5 March; The Triffid, in Brisbane, on Friday, March 6; and wrap up at The Astor, in Perth, on Sunday, 8 March.
