The single comes ahead of a yet-to-be-announced EP and Australian tour featuring some awesome support acts.
Less than a year on from the release of her second studio album Big Star, West Aussie modern musical icon Katy Steele is back with a new single of synth-drenched pop goodness, Broken, out February 29 but premiering on Pilerats a day ahead of release.
Opening with a steady backbeat and restrained guitar strums, Steele’s distinctive vocals deliver a tale of heartbreak, buoyed by all manner of shimmering synths and keys. Katy Steele reflects on the track's evolution, stating "Broken unintentionally has always reminded me of Carly Simon's classic 'You're So Vain. The lyrics are straight up, a little like myself. It was likely inspired by some of my personal experiences of heartbreak during my years in New York.
Like all my songs though, there tends to be more than one pivotal subject within the song, so I feel there are some other themes in there, which I myself am still trying to figure out what they are. I will leave it up to my audience to make up their own minds".
