Australian singer-songwriter Felix Riebl is pinching off the year with a new EP Lonely Truth, preceding a new breakout album due out in 2016. This four-track signpost cuts a revealing statement of how far the artist has travelled in an artistic and personal approach with a real confidence behind his sentiment. His first release Lonely Truth provides the first taste of the forthcoming EP due 4 December.
Known previously for having established his talents as part of The Cat Empire, Felix Reibl has shone bright across some of Australia’s largest festival stages and across the world to express a more wide-eyed and worldly musical sensibility.
Re-emerged from the shadows of this, the new EP is poised to introduce a more poetic and gritty approach to his songwriting and cast new light on his take of modern Australian politics as evidenced in the new lyric video for Lonely Truth, carrying the performer back into the limelight.
According to Riebl, the new EP title track is a packaging from a lost session and an "emotional punch that was too good to re-record" touted as an anthemic summer hit complete with a choir and horn section hinting at a similarity to Riebl’s solo release Into The Rain from 2011.
Felix rolls out his Lonely Truth launch in the new year, opening at Sydney’s The Basement on 24 January and Melbourne’s Northcote Social Club on 29 January.
