PREMIERE: Felix Riebl - In Your Arms

The Cat Empire bandleader Felix Riebl has announced the release of his second solo record Paper Doors this 2 September and to get everyone amped for it, theMusic.com.au are premiering the album's first single In Your Arms, featuring Martha Wainwright.

The video is of an acoustic live session of the "midnight ballad" with Wainwright, the energy and dynamic between the pair palpable.

Riebl says of the collaboration, "Martha Wainwright was one of the first friends I made when I lived in New York in 2009.  She had this electric shock of blonde hair with raspy voice to burn and such a subtle, wry sense of humour. 

"There’s a lot of word play in the song we sing together In Your Arms. I love it when it happens like that.  We recorded it together in an afternoon in Montreal. It's a midnight ballad, heartfelt, but tongue in cheek as well. The duet brings a breath of fresh air to the performance and adds some grit and sparkle to my voice.

"I think she shares some of that whim and humour in her songwriting with me, so it came very naturally."
