Take a first listen to British producer’s new slice of hypnotic downtempo beats before it drops Friday.
Ahead of the release of his new album Spaces, British-born and now Sydney-based producer Ally McMahon AKA Chavvy is dropping his new single of bass heavy beats Rose Garden on August 5, premiering on Pilerats today.
Taking cues from many of the UK’s OG genres from drum and bass to UK Garage, Chavvy fuses these influences with jazzy boombap and lofi hip-hop productions, sounding like the natural evolution of the inimitable mid-2000s “LA beat scene” pioneered by the likes of Flying Lotus or Daedelus.
The undeniable bass in Rose Garden draws the listener instantly into the mix, with McMahon’s background as a bass guitarist for the likes of Cody Currie, LADYKING, Mila Nile and Chelsea Warner shining through.
Give Rose Garden a spin before it drops Friday, and keep your eyes peeled for more info on Chavvy’s new album Spaces.
