Following on from his recent single with hit-writer ROZES, it continues Fractures' streak for high-tier electronica..
Towards the tail-end of last year, we did a bit of a deep dive into Melbourne-based musician Fractures who at the time, was teaming up with ROZES - someone who knows their way around a cross-over electronic hit, having worked on tracks by The Chainsmokers and Big Gigantic in the years gone by. It was somewhat monumental (as we discussed), as the track - and Fractures' signing to The FADER's record label imprint - sets himself up as the next seemingly unsuspecting Australian musician to carve a global home for himself, further solidified by his home town being joined by Paris, New York, Los Angeles and Chicago in terms of streaming audience locations.
Today, we circle back around to Fractures camp as he prepares for what's bound to be a career-defining year ahead for the rising multi-instrumentalist, who in addition to furthering his fleeting success in international waters, remains a prevalent force in homegrown indie-electro-pop that doesn't seem to be letting up anytime soon. A large part of this defining year will be as a result of his forthcoming EP EP III - out February 27th via FADER Label / Caroline Australia - which will welcome five tracks to deepen his discography, including the crossover success-in-the-making Chains teased a few months back, as well as his latest single Addiction.
Addiction is the EP's second taste, and it's further proof that the musician is extending his grasp beyond the shackles of electronica in favour of something that deepens his discography and sees him branch out into the world of pop - something he teased with Chains, and will seemingly follow through on with the release of the full EP next month. "It feels like a new direction for me but ultimately, it’s something I’ve always had up my sleeve," he says on the track, and you can feel that in its effortless charm. This may be a new sound to Fractures on a surface level, but deep down, he's always had it in him to prove that he's one of the country's most versatile in electronica.
The full EP is, as mentioned, out on February 27th, but in the meantime, dive into Addiction below and keep your eyes on Fractures as he continues to flourish into an artist on the rise in the new year ahead:
