More Vic Mensa More Vic Mensa

You've likely heard the name by now, with Vic Mensa having made appearances on huge albums by big name artists such as Flume and Kaytranada, as well as appearing on songs alongside names such as Kanye West and Skrillex. But what you might not realise, since Chicago’s Mensa has not released a full-length project since 2013 mixtape INNANETAPE, is that Vic Mensa is genuinely one of the more talented and exciting young solo artists in hip hop right now.

That is about to change however, with Vic Mensa poised to release new EP - There’s A Lot Going On - tonight ahead of his debut studio album expected some time later this year. Only a short time ahead of the EP’s release, Vic Mensa has taken to Ebro Darden’s Beats 1 radio program to release the first single from the new EP, 16 Shots. A track addressing the considerable violence, and recent history of racial injustice, in Vic Mensa’s native Chicago, 16 Shots is earnestly goosebumps-inducing. Part expression of Mensa’s aggression and anger, part protest piece - 16 Shots is an astute reminder of just how extraordinarily talented Vic Mensa really is.

Listen to the debut below, in addition to a small intro by Mensa himself, and keep your eyes peeled for the EP drop later today.
