The 90s tinged indie rockers return with a new lineup and two infectious A-sides..
Norway’s much loved 90’s tinged indie-rockers Sløtface are back after two deeply personal albums with the release of a double A-side release, alongside the news that the group’s figurehead Hayley Shea is now leading the band whilst Lasse and Tor-Arne leave the group to focus on new passions.
Pushing the group into exciting new territories inspired by the likes of Jack Antof, Taylor Swift, Caroline Polachek and HAIM, the latest double release Beta / Come hell or whatever blends and bends genres whilst keeping irresistible melodies at its core - something that Sløtface fans know and love.
Co-written with songwriter and producer Mikhael Paskalev, Beta crunches with broody guitars, rolling along with rhythmic bass lines as Hayley’s effortless self-confidence shine through the vocal take. Inspired by her spiraling down the rabbit hole of social media during the lockdown, Hayley shares that "The song is about wanting to connect with people on a deeper level, but feeling like social media sometimes gets in the way, with things becoming somewhat intimidating, shallow and superficial. The song is a confidence booster for myself, where I’m trying to be cooler than I am. It was written at a time when I really, really missed the rush of playing live, and I needed to find some of that spark and edge in myself that only really comes out on stage."
Come hell or whatever kicks into a higher gear with a more upbeat tone, low grumbles of distorted guitars and crisp drums hits back infectious harmonies detailing a ride-or-die friendship. “We're a package deal, we're a matching set, And she'd have my back in a rain of bullets, Watch us drive into the desert, Rubber burning, come out with guns blazing” details the lyrics - it's a track about the ultimate friendship set to conquer the world.
