More Cashmere Cat More Cashmere Cat

Rap and electronic music are closer than ever moving into 2015 – just yesterday Missy Elliot took on Scrillex / Diplo, and today three of the most inventive young producers on the international scene take their hand to Ludacris' Wiz Khalifa and Jeremih-featuring 2014 single Party Girls, produced by Cashmere Cat. The track was released over a year ago now, but it's about to head back into rotation with these three remixes from Cashmere Cat's homies. "Lunice, Brodinski and Sinjin Hawke have all been so incredibly influential for my music, and it feels so special having these dudes remix the first rap song i ever produced," said Cashmere Cat in a statement to FADER Mag.

First up is Sinjin Hawke, a name that's freshly buzzing thanks to the Montreal producer's work on the track, Wolves (also prod. by Cashmere Cat), for Kanye West. Featuring rap verses from Kaytranada collaborator Vic Mensa, and also featuring alt-pop vocal powerhouse Sia, Wolves got its first public play during the launch of Kanye's Adidas Yeezy 750 shoe, and the trio (Sia, Vic, Kanye) performed a dramatic live version of the track on SNL's 40th anniversary show this week.

The inventive producer's given us his take on Party Girls; which keeps things very sensual, throwing in some sharp snares. We wrote about French producer Brodinski’s Young Scooter-featuring track Francois-Xavier on Pilerats last week; and he pops up again on this remix package; bouncing the track around a bit and giving it a bit of menace. Montreal native Lunice is a recognisable name - he's already worked quite a bit in the hip-hop sphere already, notably with Rockie Fresh/Rick Ross. Lunice declared his remix, which Cashmere Cat snuck into a Pitchfork mix a while back, a "Valentines remix for the love of Cashmere Cat's sense of rhythm.” This remix pack is free (via Southern Hospitality), along with the video clip for the original.
