A meeting of West Aussie faves results in musos and members of POND and Tame Impala remixing award winning acclaimed local artist.
In a dope local meeting of Fremantle-based musical minds, Afro-Creol legend Grace Barbe has teamed up with GUM & Ginoli (Tame Impala/POND) to deliver a vibe-filled housey remix of her 2013 single Fatige.
Packing a thumping four-to-the-floor kick drum, bubbling bass line and all manner of synths, GUM & Ginoli flip the very danceable original of Afro-Sega sounds into a club-ready, DJ friendly slice of dancefloor goodness.
The remix comes ahead of a 10 year anniversary celebration of Barbe’s album Welele! that Fatige is lifted from, with an EP of remixes as well as a vinyl release of Welele! scheduled for a 2023 release, and comes fresh following the news that Grace has joined the Cat Empire as bassist and vocalist, set to begin touring later in the year.
Regarding the remix, Barbe explains “I’ve always been a big fan of the Tame Impala/POND axis of bands, and being a Freo girl, very proud of their massive success. After bumping in to the guys so many times over the years at gigs and festivals we decided it was time for collaboration, and I couldn’t be happier with the result!”
