The new remix comes as Dua Lipa shares an unmixed version of her Club Future Nostalgia remix record, with a few new gems hidden inside..
Dua Lipa bringing the underground of club culture to the commercial forefront isn't something we would've expected at the start of this year, but reflecting where we are now, it's something that makes a lot of sense. Her latest record Future Nostalgia is drenched with nods to the yesteryear of disco, funk and glittery house-pop, and with her Club Future Nostalgia remix record shared a few weeks back, she merged these disco and funk foundations with some of its pioneers, all mixed together by a staple of Chicago's club culture in The Blessed Madonna (f.k.a. The Black Madonna).
It was a remix record that welcomed some of dance music's most legendary names, spanning from its commercial peaks to its strobe-lit depths. Hot Chip's Joe Goddard remixed the album's title-track; Midland and Horse Meat Disco exchanged remixes of Pretty Please; Dimitri From Paris mixed Break My Heart into Jamiroquai's classic Cosmic Girl; The Blessed Madonna herself remixed a few songs, one adding Madonna and Missy Elliott to the equation; Mark Ronson brought Gwen Stefani on board; Yaeji, Moodyman and Mr Fingers all joined in, and the list really goes on.
On Friday, Dua Lipa quietly dropped an unmixed version of Club Future Nostalgia that brings the remixes to their fully fleshed out selves, omitting a few exclusives to the mix that have been taken out (we'd guess that the BLACKPINK-featuring Kiss and Make Up will be released later, while other omissions most feature samples) and most excitingly, adding in a Kaytranada remix of the album's centre-point in Don't Start Now, and it's something that'll kick you up the ass and give you the boost needed to make this week a good one.
While the original version of Don't Start Now merged backbones in rich disco and high-flying pop, Kaytranada's edit of the song strips it back to its most funk-aligned core, fleshing out that side of the track for a remix that really reflects the Canadian-based producer's distinctly unique sound. After a slow-burning entrance laden with those signature hi-hats and bass kick pulse, Kaytranada's Don't Start Now remix soon erupts to a disco ball-lit trance, bringing his charm to the forefront as he mixes it with Dua Lipa's anthemic vocal to create something a little more smooth and lo-fi when placed comparatively to the single's original maximalist feel.

It's a remix that we can see soundtracking the more low-key moments of the summer ahead, and you can take a dive into it below. Oh, and if you're after more Kaytranada goodness, he's also dropped the instrumentals to his latest record BUBBA, and it's well worth a listen if you're craving more of his signature step without the guest vocalists.
