Katrine Madsen Trio perform at the 4MBS Performance Studio on Monday.
Danish Jazz Beauty Katrine Madsen is currently cruising through her second Australian Tour. The circuit even involves two Jazz Festival appearances and performances at various music hot spots in Far North Queensland.
Kat is excited about the opportunity to share her material and a Trio formation to the Australian Jazz audience. This excitement naturally stems from her fond memories of the April 2000 tour.
“Oh we have so many wonderful memories from the last tour here in Australia,” says Katrine. “ It was very, very well organised and I got a really, really good impression of the whole of Australia.”
Madsen received heaps of wonderful press coverage last tour and it is obvious the media and Jazz professionals were impressed with her abilities because you can track down favourable comments about her. It appears everyone that should have been taking note of her did, like ABC’s Jazztrack host Jim McLleod to one of Australia’s leading Jazz vocalist’s Christine Sullivan. It is therefore fair to state from the various comments expressed that most Australian Jazz Journalists and music identities at the time were attracted to the earthiness in her voice and all the warm and passionate qualities Katrine Madsen delivers from her soul to the music.
The young Diva certainly has a flair for the business and creative aspect of the Jazz industry too. She has ownership in Family Music Production a production company that enables her to get the recorded product out sooner to reliable distribution companies.
Katrine is very open to future label offers but she is quick to say that she maintains a great relationship with her original label Music Mecca, “We still have the same distribution at work through Music Mecca. That’s my old label and we are selling many CDs. It’s only the production that we are taking care of and that’s because in jazz music it is very normal to be part of process from the beginning through to the end.”
Make a mental note of the following comment of Kat’s before you attend the show and you’ll find yourself spiritually in touch with the Danish Jazz Star: “The music is of course the main thing but what is also very important is to have the opportunity to go out and tell these stories to people, to go out on a tour is so important and I am very thankful for being in the position that I can make a living out of it.”
