“I wrote this song to be an empowering anthem for any women out there who feel patronised, passed over, made to feel less than by men in positions of power."
With her latest offering, Aussie singer-songwriter Imogen Clark is “immortalised as a superhero”.
Premiering today via The Music, the clip for Bastards, taken from her forthcoming EP of the same name, is a brilliant animation helmed by director Binbin Lu.
“I wrote this song to be an empowering anthem for any women out there who feel patronised, passed over, made to feel less than by men in positions of power,” Clark told The Music.
“Doing an animated clip meant we could go big and over the top, while also touching on animal cruelty, a subject I feel really passionate about.
“Binbin and her team did an incredible job turning my ideas into cartoon reality, and it’s a total dream to be immortalised as a superhero, with my real-life dog daughter Socks as my sidekick.”
The EP itself, which will be released this Friday, was recorded remotely between Sydney and LA with producer Mike Bloom (Jenny Lewis, Julian Casablancas) and engineer Will Golden.

Clark has previously noted that: “This record is about the lessons I’ve learned about the people around me, and the different types of relationships you have in this world as a woman.”
