The future of WA hip-hop chats to some of the OGs of the game ahead of joint Perth Festival appearance.
As well as his dropping his addictive new summer anthem, Flewnt is somewhat of a musicologist with his Breaking Down The Bars interview series that sees him chatting to a whole host of local musos and MCs, with the tenth and biggest episode to date just dropping that sees him catching up with none other than Optamus and Dazastah of the beyond legendary Downsyde.
The interview comes ahead of Flewnt’s Boorloo Block Party at Perth Festival on Saturday, February 26 that features the likes of Adrian Dzvuke, Drea, Yazza, and of course Downysyde and Flewnt himself, and serves as a perfect introduction for new fans of either or both artists.
Enjoy this free-flowing, candid chat packed with vibes and hear about the history of Downsyde, including making their first record worldwide hit record on a $150 computer at Daz’s parents house (where they could bang beats at 5am and be given serves of curry by Daz’s parents, as opposed to another kind of serve your average parent would give…), the importance of fuelling creativity in the youth, lifelong friendships and more, as well as a dope live performance.
