Coarse Of Action.
Cleavage launch Inter-Coarse at Tattersals Hotel, Lismore on Thursday, The Rous, Ballina on Saturday, Her Majesty’s Bar on February 26 and the Jubilee Hotel on February 28.
It’s a bit porn, it’s a lot metal, and it’s heading your way. Lismore based act Cleavage have already cleaned up in a couple of local band comps, are set to launch their debut album Inter-Coarse on an unsuspecting world, and already have plans to take the band overseas to spread the word. Cleavage drummer Josh took some time to answer a few questions.
“We had been chomping at the bit to get back into the studio,” he explains. “We had sold out of our old EP, and we had a whole bunch of new songs that we wanted to throw down. Even now we have a bunch of new songs already for the next album and Inter-Coarse hasn’t even come out yet. Were pretty prolific writers.”
How was the recording experience for you guys?
“It couldn’t have gone better. We plastered the studio in hardcore porn and messed about with the vid cam, it was all very inspirational, I even helped my girlfriend masturbate in the studio to produce the sounds heard on the song Fat Sluts & Filthy Whores; it’s a lovely little ditty.”
How would you describe what the band is about?
“We’re about the music, and not caring about what anyone else thinks. We have so much passion in our music; we truly love what we do. We are not politically correct, we are not sensitive to the pop culture. We do what we do and if you don’t like it you can eat a dick… Oh yeah and, porn, sluts and debauchery on all levels.”
What’s the story behind the upcoming European tour? When are you heading over and where are you playing?
“I made contacts through the net sent away our shit and the first booking agent we sent stuff to flipped and booked us on the Pepsi Sziget festival in Hungary. We’re off over there in late July and then on to London to play some club shows there. Depending on what happens maybe LA. We have a guy over there promising stuff but nothing confirmed yet.”
Have you got many female fans? What do most women think of the band?
“Yeah we do actually. I think the girls are intelligent and secure enough in themselves to realise its all just harmless fun to us. We think that there is a link between our style of hardcore and sex. The two go hand in hand.”
