Busby Marou are releasing their fifth album, Blood Red, on Friday, 21 July.
To accompany the album, the band will go on tour across the country throughout August, September and October in the cities of Gladstone, Bundaberg, Yamba, Gold Coast, Adelaide Melbourne, Brisbane, Coffs Harbour, Thirroul, Sydney, Newcastle, Rockhampton, Mackay, Cairns & Townsville.
Joining Busby Marou for the shows are rising stars, Brisbane-based singer-songwriter Jem Cassar-Daley (for all dates except Sydney and Newcastle), and Melbourne guitar prodigy and singer Steph Strings (Sydney and Newcastle only).
To celebrate the album and most recent single, Conversation, we caught up with Tom Busby to hear about the band’s views on existing in this digital age.
“In this digital age, we are constantly connected to our devices. Our smartphones, laptops and tablets are taking over our lives. While all these things have made our lives easier, they have also taken away from real conversations with real people. Our song, 'Conversation' reminds us of the importance of having real conversations, and why it's so important to put down our devices and live in the real world. It's all about the value of human interaction.
“There's something truly special about sitting down with someone and having a genuine chat. It's a chance to connect on a deeper level, to share our thoughts, our hopes, and our fears. In a world where we are increasingly isolated and disconnected, these conversations are more important than ever.

“We've all seen the negative effects that social media can have on our mental health, especially on young people. We wanted to write a song that encourages people to put down their devices and experience life in the real world. Whether it's sharing a coffee or a beer with a friend, or simply having a laugh with family, we believe that these real-life experiences are what make life truly awesome.
“We also believe that as parents, it's important for us to encourage our kids to have these real conversations and to limit their time on social media. It's all too easy for young people to get sucked into the never-ending cycle of likes, comments, and shares, and to lose sight of what's important in life. By setting boundaries and encouraging face-to-face conversations, hopefully, we can help our kids develop healthy relationships and a deeper appreciation for the world around them.
“At the end of the day, we believe that real conversations are what make life worth living. It's in these moments that we truly connect with others, and with ourselves. So let's put down our phones and get back to speaking and listening - conversations with family, friends and strangers. If we could prioritize human interaction in the real world, surely, we'd all be happier and healthier.”
Busby Marou’s new single ‘Conversation’ will feature on their fifth studio album Blood Red out on 21 July.
